Atlas HO CF-7 Locomotive

The Santa Fe CF7 locomotive is a diesel-electric engine originally built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) as an F7 and later rebuilt into a CF7 by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway. The CF7s were converted from F7 units between 1970 and 1978 to meet the need for more versatile road switchers. These locomotives had their streamlined car bodies replaced with custom-made, general-purpose bodies, making them suitable for switching duties. A total of 233 units were rebuilt, and they were used extensively across the Santa Fe system for various tasks, including switching cars, transporting local freight, and hauling mainline trains. The CF7s became popular on regional railroads, short lines and as grain belt facility switchers after being sold in the 1980s, and some remain in operation today.
